Virtual Lab Privacy Addendum

This page is an addendum to our main Privacy Policy. Both apply to your use of WaveQuanta's Virtual Lab.

What we collect

If you choose to save an optical setup in our Virtual Lab (Photonics Nexus), we store the scene data — the components you placed, their parameters, the resulting Bill of Materials, and an optional thumbnail — tied to your customer account. We do not collect this data unless you explicitly click Save to account.

Default privacy posture

Saved scenes are private to your account by default. WaveQuanta's sales, application engineering, and product teams cannot view your individual saved scenes. We treat scene data as confidential research/design information.

How we use it

Saved scene data is used only to:

  • Display your saved scenes back to you in your account;
  • Allow you to re-open and edit them in the Virtual Lab;
  • Compute fully anonymized, aggregated statistics across the customer base. Anonymized statistics never contain customer identifiers.

Opt-in expert recommendations

You may, on a per-scene basis, click Request Expert Review to share that specific scene with our application engineering team for product recommendations. This sharing is explicit, per-scene, and revocable. We retain shared review materials for up to 12 months unless you request deletion earlier.

Opt-in personalization

Within your account settings you may turn on "Allow WaveQuanta to suggest related products based on my saved scenes." This setting is OFF by default. When ON, our recommendation engine surfaces product suggestions within your own account view. Turning this on does not give human team members access to your scenes.

Retention & deletion

You can delete an individual saved scene at any time from the Virtual Lab tab in your account; deletion is immediate and permanent. If you close your account, all associated Virtual Lab data is deleted within 30 days.

Storage

Scene data is stored on Cloudflare's global edge network using encrypted at-rest storage. We do not sell, lease, or transfer Virtual Lab scene data to any third party.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (EU GDPR, UK GDPR, Singapore PDPA, California CCPA, China PIPL, and others), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict the processing of your scene data. To exercise these rights, contact sales@wavequanta.com.
