Overview

The BIM-7801-01 is a high-speed biased photodetector built around an integrated Si PIN photodiode. It covers 380-1100 nm with a 2 GHz bandwidth and a rise / fall time of <200 ps/<200 ps, converting optical power into photocurrent through the photovoltaic effect. An internal long-life lithium bias supply is built in, so the detector needs no external bias: connect a coaxial cable from the BNC output to a 50 Ω termination at an oscilloscope or spectrum analyser and the unit is ready to measure laser pulse width and temporal response.

Storage & Handling

Keep the input window clean and free of dust and fingerprints; when cleaning is required, use optical-grade solvents and lens tissue. Always terminate the output into 50 Ω when measuring fast pulses, and avoid exceeding the specified maximum optical input. Remove the bias battery if the detector will be stored for an extended period, and keep the unit in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight and condensation.
