Overview
The LBTEK Wire Grid Polarizers (WGPs) consist of two N-BK7 glass substrates with an aluminum wire grid polarizing film sandwiched in between, designed to generate linearly polarized light with a specific polarization orientation. When light passes through the metal wire grid, the periodically arranged metal wires interact with the electric field of the light, splitting it into electric field components parallel and perpendicular to the grid. The parallel component is absorbed or reflected by the metal wires, while the perpendicular component transmits through the grid, forming linearly polarized light. Compared with polymer polarizers, wire grid polarizers offer higher operating temperatures and damage thresholds. LBTEK provides wire grid polarizers with operating wavelength range of 420-1100 nm, available in two clear apertures (Ø10 mm/Ø21.5 mm) and two mounting options (installed with a retaining ring/installed in a rotation mount).
