Overview
The 1030nm Chirped Mirror -500fs² (Ultrafast Innovations HD59) is a high-negative-dispersion mirror that delivers -500 fs² of negative group delay dispersion per bounce, a high-efficiency choice for external CPA compressor stages across the 1000–1060 nm operating bandwidth.
At -500 fs²/bounce, this mirror reduces total bounce count for typical CPA stretcher dispersion (~3000–10000 fs²) by 3–5× compared with low-GDD designs, lowering scatter loss and beam-quality degradation. Multilayer coating optimized to maximize negative GDD per reflection while preserving high reflectance — the standard approach for fs-laser CPA compressor design.

Construction & Performance
Manufactured on a 25.4 mm diameter × 6.35 mm thick UV fused silica (UVFS) substrate with ion beam sputtered (IBS) dielectric multilayer coating, >99% reflectance specified as R>99%@1000-1060nm. The mirror operates at 5° angle of incidence with p-polarized light. The IBS coating provides exceptional layer density, sub-ppm absorption losses, and long-term spectral stability — characteristics required for dependable performance in high-average-power amplifier chains.
1030 nm Yb-band IBS dielectric coating with optimized GDD flatness ensures consistent dispersion control under typical fs-laser operating conditions. Compatible laser systems include Yb:YAG thin-disk amplifiers, Yb:KGW oscillators (Light Conversion Pharos, Carbide), and Yb:fiber chirped pulse amplifiers.
Storage & Handling
Operate at 25 °C, 40–60% RH. Clean only with >99% optical-grade ethanol and lint-free lens tissue using single-pass drag method. Avoid abrasive cloths and water.
