Overview

The 1030nm Chirped Mirror -60fs² (Ultrafast Innovations PC147) is a broadband dispersive mirror (BBDM) that provides -60 fs² of controlled negative group delay dispersion per bounce — the workhorse range for sub-100 fs oscillator and amplifier dispersion management across the 650–1350 nm operating bandwidth.

With -60 fs²/bounce, this mirror compensates typical intracavity material dispersion (5–10 mm of fused silica) in a manageable bounce count, balancing ripple control with practical compressor footprint. A double-angle BBDM design suppresses the GDD oscillations characteristic of single-angle chirped mirrors, enabling deployment as a single optic where conventional designs require matched pairs.

Construction & Performance

Manufactured on a 12.7 mm diameter × 6.35 mm thick UV fused silica (UVFS) substrate with ion beam sputtered (IBS) dielectric multilayer coating, >99% reflectance specified as R>99%@650-1350nm. The mirror operates at 5° angle of incidence with p-polarized light. The IBS coating provides exceptional layer density, sub-ppm absorption losses, and long-term spectral stability — characteristics required for dependable performance in high-average-power amplifier chains.

1030 nm Yb-band IBS dielectric coating with optimized GDD flatness ensures consistent dispersion control under typical fs-laser operating conditions. Compatible laser systems include Yb:YAG thin-disk amplifiers, Yb:KGW oscillators (Light Conversion Pharos, Carbide), and Yb:fiber chirped pulse amplifiers.

Storage & Handling

Operate at 25 °C, 40–60% RH. Clean only with >99% optical-grade ethanol and lint-free lens tissue using single-pass drag method. Avoid abrasive cloths and water.
