An axicon, also known as a rotationally symmetric prism, is a lens composed of a conical surface and a planar surface. It is commonly used to generate beams with Bessel intensity profiles or ring-shaped beams. When converting a collimated beam into a ring-shaped beam, the planar side of the axicon should face the collimated light source. LBTEK manufactures axicons using UV fused silica, which is suitable for a wide range of ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared applications. With its low refractive index, low coefficient of thermal expansion, and high hardness, it is ideal for harsh working environments.
