Off-axis parabolic mirrors are surface mirrors whose reflective surface is a section taken from a parent parabolic surface. Off-axis parabolic mirrors can be used to focus collimated beams or collimate point sources, and their off-axis design allows the focal point to be separated from the optical path. Compared to lenses, using off-axis parabolic mirrors does not produce spherical aberration, chromatic aberration, and does not introduce phase delay or absorption loss, making them highly suitable for femtosecond pulsed lasers. Since metal coatings are easily oxidized, discolored, or peeled off in high-humidity environments, LBTEK's metal-coated off-axis parabolic mirrors have a layer of silicon dioxide protective coating on their surface to isolate the metal coating from direct contact with air, preventing oxidation of the metal coating and affecting optical performance. LBTEK offers three types of metal-coated off-axis parabolic mirrors: gold-coated, silver-coated, and UV-enhanced aluminum-coated. The angle between the focused beam and the collimated beam is called the off-axis angle. LBTEK provides off-axis parabolic mirrors with off-axis angles of 90° and 45°.
