High-Frequency Resonant Phase Modulator
This LBTEK high-frequency resonant electro-optic phase modulator delivers high-efficiency phase modulation at GHz frequencies via a tuned RF resonant cavity around the lithium niobate crystal. The resonant Q-enhancement reduces the required RF drive power for π phase shift by ~Q² compared to broadband EOMs.
Designed for GHz-band laser sideband generation in cold-atom physics, optical communication, and microwave-photonic applications. Resonant frequency is factory-tuned at 24 ℃ with a narrow operational bandwidth around the center.
Key Features
- GHz resonant frequency — model-specific from 2.1 to 14.75 GHz
- Q-enhanced modulation efficiency — low RF drive power required
- Narrow resonance bandwidth (4–44 MHz FWHM)
- Lithium niobate electro-optic crystal in resonant RF cavity
- Temperature-stabilized for resonance stability
- SMA RF input for direct connection to microwave sources
Typical Applications
- Optical sideband generation for atomic transitions (Rb 6.835 GHz, Cs 9.193 GHz, etc.)
- Cold-atom hyperfine state preparation
- Optical phase-locked loops (OPLL) at GHz
- Microwave-to-optical conversion
- Quantum gates in trapped-ion systems
- Optical frequency comb stabilization
