USB Optical Power Meters BIM-7103U

Overview

The BIM-7103U is a USB photodiode optical power meter with a InGaAs detector covering 800-1650 nm. It measures optical power up to ~10 mW and connects directly to a computer over USB for data acquisition, with calibration data stored in the head itself. Detachable OD attenuators extend the measurement range, and both free-space and fiber-coupled measurements are supported.

Construction & Performance

The detector uses a InGaAs element with an effective detection diameter of 0.3 cm and a housing of Ø38 mm x 30 mm. Response time is ≤0.2 us, calibration uncertainty ±5%, and the maximum average power density without attenuator is 10 mW/cm^2. Mounting holes (8-32 / M4) allow direct posting on an optical table; the connecting cable is 1.5 m and the head weighs 105 g.

Storage & Handling

Operate and store within the specified temperature and humidity range in a dry, dust-free environment. Keep the detector aperture capped when not in use, avoid exceeding the maximum average power density, and return the head for recalibration at regular intervals to preserve measurement accuracy.
