Overview

LBTEK Achromatic Depolarizers convert polarized light into unpolarized light. Each component consists of two circular quartz wedge crystals whose optical axes are at a 45° angle, with a 2:1 thickness ratio between the thick and thin wedges bonded with UV-curing adhesive. The gradient phase difference across the beam cross-section yields mixed polarization states at the output, producing the depolarization effect for both monochromatic and broadband light sources. Currently LBTEK offers uncoated (350 nm-2500 nm) and AR-coated variants for 400 nm-700 nm, 700 nm-1100 nm, and 1100 nm-1650 nm.
