Metal-coated mirrors are highly suitable for deflecting light paths of broadband light sources, offering high reflectivity across a wide spectral range. Unprotected gold-coated mirrors exhibit higher reflectivity than their protected counterparts but are more fragile and prone to surface scratches. LBTEK offers Ø25.4 mm unprotected gold-coated flat mirrors, which are suitable for deflecting light paths of broadband light sources and exhibit high reflectivity across a wide spectral range. Unlike aluminum or silver coatings, gold coatings are less prone to oxidation in air, allowing them to be used without protective layers. Unprotected gold-coated mirrors have higher reflectivity than protected ones, but they are also more fragile and susceptible to surface scratches. During use, care should be taken to avoid touching the gold-coated surface to prevent scratches that could affect performance.
