2-inch half-wave QLCVR for 700-1100 nm, Ø20 mm clear aperture, 10 ms rise time.
Overview
Nematic liquid crystal/ITO glass, anti-parallel liquid crystal cell, with mechanical housing and wiring. Uniform in-plane alignment via polyimide layer rubbing; tunable retardance from tens of nanometers to λ/2 via externally applied AC electric field (DC not allowed).

Applications
- Polarization Modulator: Polarization direction of incident linearly polarized light should be at 45° angle to fast axis for widest adjustment range.
- Pure Phase Retarder: Polarization direction of incident linearly polarized light should be at 0° angle to fast axis.
