The LBTek cascaded grating beamsplitter (Multilayer Grating Beamsplitter, MLGS) is fabricated using N-BK7 glass substrate and liquid crystal polymer (LCP) material. The device consists of three layers of 1-inch double-edged substrates coated with LCP featuring grating and waveplate structures.
When linearly polarized light is incident, the 1x4 cascaded grating achieves one-dimensional quad-splitting based on parallel grating line orientation. Output beams are circularly polarized with different rotations. The component demonstrates high transmittance with optimized phase design and precise retardation control, offering superior splitting efficiency and uniformity compared to typical Dammann gratings while maintaining high angular accuracy.
